Have you ever wondered what exactly connects networks and computers to one another? Network cable along with the associated hardware (network switches, hubs, demarcation equipment) is responsible with computers being able to connect and transfer data across intranets (internal network) as well as the internet. Network cabling is now used for various other reasons besides computer networking. It is used to transmit video to security camera systems as and video for cables for TV as well as AV (Audio/Visual) devices. It is also used as a control cable for Building Maintenance Systems and Access Control Systems. There are many different kinds of cables that can be used in this regard, including unshielded twisted pair, shielded twisted pair in addition to fiber optic and COAX. In certain situations, only one kind of cable is utilized in a network when in other cases diverse types are employed. Wireless networks are becoming more and more widely used, but you should remember that you still need network cabling for wireless networks. There are still two elements that make network cable better than wireless networks as it is far more secure and reliable.

This is the type of cable that is utilized to connect various Ethernet networks. There are four sets of pairs of wires that make up the cable. The cable is protected by a tough plastic separator to keep each pair separated along the course of the cable. The wires is twisted so there will be none interference by other equipment that are on the same networks. They are also twisted at different intervals so they do not create interference between each other. In situations where there is a lot of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), such as in a mechanical environment it is possible to go with a shielded pair that comes with an outer shielding that provides an extra layer of protection against EMI. Categories 5e, 6A, and 7 are common selections today. Twisted-pair cable is limited to 295' in the horizontal side of. Twisted pair cables are used for numerous applications. The standard station cabling used for computers and VOIP phones, wireless access points, access control, network cameras or building monitoring systems are but some. It is among the most reliable kinds of cables. And when it is used, network problems are less frequent than with other cables.

Fiber optic cable is usually used for backbone connections, though it is used more and more as a station cable (think"FIOS"). By "backbone" cable, I mean it connects Telecommunication Rooms within the same space. Fiber optic cable has huge capacity for broadband, allowing it to transport huge amounts of information as super fast speeds. Fiber optic cables can travel over huge distances(hundreds of meters) when compared to copper cable. Because they have to be so efficient and the information moves over such long distances, there are numerous layers of protective coatings for optical fiber cables. They transmit light as instead of electrical current. The fiber optic cable consumes less power than high-speed copper does. The fiber optic cables are an excellent choice for high-speed reliable communications.

Cable paths need to steer away from electrical fixtures as well as different sources for EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference). Keep cable routes in accessible portions of the ceiling for future cable runs and for ease of maintenance. The paths must be positioned over corridors or hallways. cables are introduced into individual rooms by wide 90 degree turns. Install a firestop protection sleeve or putty for any penetrations into a fire wall. Be aware when pulling cables so as not to cause them to bend beyond their bend radius. This could result in a malfunction when conducting tests. Do not tie cables to suspended ceilings or pipes for sprinklers. They must be tied at least every 5' along horizontal runs, and even more often on vertical runs. J-hooks must be anchored to the concrete deck over. Wrap velcro around them every 5' or so , when you've complete running cable to provide your cable bundles with a stunning look.
