Mine does this occasionally where the white clip pops out of it's holder. Ive pb blasted the hell out of it, 1 in 5 times i go to close the hood, it won't stay closed and takes a good 10 minutes of playing with the latches and a can of pb blaster to get them to close and latch.,.

Our hood release cable broke last august, the car has been sitting in the garage with little to no oil in it, the car has less than 40,000 mile. Look at it & you'll see where the white thing should clip into.

How to fix broken hood release handle step 1:. Just adjusted my hood and remembered about the difficulties of a busted release cable, so while i had the latch assembly off, i drllled a 1/16 inch hole in the latch arm, and attached a thin cable to it, then ran the cable under the panel through a hole drilled in the driver,s side inner fender. From there you can just open it normally.
